Message from the President

Since the Port of Yokohama was opened in 1859, it has contributed to the economic growth of Japan as a leading port for international trade. The port handles a variety of cargo, including containers, automobiles and steel, and our company, including our predecessors, Keihin Port Development Authority and Yokohama Port Development Public Corporation, has played a vital role in the social mission to support Japan’s maritime transport for over 50 years. This has been achieved through the development and management of port facilities.
Our company, Yokohama Port Corporation (YPC), strives to further improve services for customers who use the Port of Yokohama through the management of automobile and general cargo terminals, designated management operation of public pier logistics facilities, promotion of the Logistics Park Project, and participation in operating the Yokohama Port International Cargo Center (Y-CC). Furthermore, based on our knowledge and expertise in port operations, we lease, maintain and manage the container terminal facilities we own, and actively cooperate in the project being run by Yokohama Kawasaki International Port Corporation (YKIP) under the International Container Strategic Ports policy.
We strive to collaborate with the government and Yokohama City to contribute to the further growth, international competitiveness, and environmental friendliness of the Port of Yokohama. We look forward to everyone’s continued support and cooperation.

Uematsu Hisataka
President,
Yokohama Port Corporation (YPC)
